Online Application of NBI Clearance

Effective Jan. 24, 2014 online application of NBI clearance will be available at http://www.doj.gov.ph/nbi/

The Department of Justice announced that starting Friday, January 24, applicants can apply for their National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance online through the agency's website.

In a press release issued Wednesday, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said that the implementation of the new NBI system aims to eliminate queues and simplify the process of getting a clearance.

"Online application is the logical next step after the switch," she added.

The NBI system is now run by the DOJ, a first in the agency's history and substantially upgrades the old systems.

"This is just our third full week of operation under our watch but we expect significant progress in the coming weeks with the delivery of additional equipment and increase in personnel," said newly appointed NBI Director Virgilio L. Mendez.

He added that the Renewal Module will be implemented next.

The NBI Clearance System is a component of the flagship National Justice Information System (NJIS) to link and share information among justice sector institutions.

Applicants may complete an application form online at www.doj.gov.ph/nbi or at http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

After the online registration, applicants may proceed directly to any of the 55 sites nationwide for payment and biometric enrollment for the release of the clearance. A list of these areas is also available at NBI's website

How to Walk on Ice

Icy conditions are no fun, especially if you have poor balance. If you shift your center-of-gravity over your front facing foot instead of splitting it evenly between your feet, you can more easily walk across icy surfaces without falling quite so much. Penguins have figured this out, as have many who live in areas covered by ice for weeks each year.

Eli, Eli

The book ELI, ELI by Wojciech Tochman is not just a travel book but moving pictures depicting life of people living in the slums of Manila. The book will tell us about not only life living in poverty but how it is to live life in general. You can grab a copy if you want to but it's all in Polish though the pictures are really interesting.
