DFA: Old (Non-machine readable) PH passports phased out by 2015

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Friday that all non-machine readable passports will be phased out by November 24, 2015 and must be extended before October 31, 2015.

In a statement, the DFA said that Filipinos holding machine readable passports, or those with green or maroon covers, meanwhile will no longer be allowed to apply for validity extension beyond October 31, 2014.

"They must instead apply for a new e-Passport (dark maroon) as soon as possible before the expiry of their current MRRP (green) or MRP (maroon) passports," the statement said.

"Those who fail to do so will likely encounter difficulty at immigration checks when traveling through any ports of entry around the world after October 2015," it added.

DFA said the new regulation follows International Civil Aviation Organization standards.

The agency also reminded holders that extending validity of passport extension can only be applied for medical emergencies requiring overseas Filipinos to travel back home, death in the family, those returning to their employers abroad and those in the Middle East who are returning home on final exit visas.

"In these instances, proof of urgency such as a copy of the death certificate, medical certificate, valid employment contracts processed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration or any of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, along with plane tickets with confirmed flight details should be presented," the DFA said.

Nasza decyzja o odbudowie domów i szkół to wynik wspólnej strategii wszystkich organizacji pomocowych działających na miejscu, według której dotychczasowa pomoc humanitarna (dostarczanie produktów pierwszej pomocy) powinna przejść w fazę odbudowy zniszczonej infrastruktury publicznej i dostarczania materiałów niezbędnych do odbudowy domów mieszkańców zniszczonych prowincji.

OPM ARTISTS RECORD "THE PRAYER" FOR YOLANDA VICTIMS

On October 15, 2013, an earthquake with the energy equivalent to "32 Hiroshima bombs" devastated the Visayas, and parts of Mindanao and southern Luzon.
Two days later, the Loboc Children's Choir sang, "The Prayer," with the rubble of the hundred year old Loboc Church as their backdrop.

Their performance moved so many people here and abroad. Then, tragedy struck again.

On November 8, Typhoon Yolanda, the most powerful tropical cyclone of the year hit East Samar, Samar and Leyte.

Thousands died. Millions were left hungry, desperate, and homeless.

Relief efforts from the Philippines and the rest of the world are currently helping the victims survive and find temporary homes.

But the bigger challenge is how to help all these people get back to their normal lives.

This is where we took inspiration from the Loboc Children's Choir's performance.

These children may be from Bohol, but their innocent voices represent not just their home province but also earthquake-damaged Cebu, war-stricken Zamboanga, and typhoon-devastated Leyte, Samar, and Iloilo -- all of whom are praying for a miracle to allow them to rebuild their lives.

And so we asked the help of various Filipino artists to lend their voices, to represent our country, and show the world that the Philippines has one voice, one prayer -- that we work together to help our countrymen rebuild their lives brick by brick.

The resulting song will be used to raise funds through downloads. The proceeds will go to the helpPH campaign, a project by the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation (PDRF). It is a non-profit organization made up of major companies from the private sector and leading NGOs. PDRF, organized in October 2009 after Typhoons Ondoy, Pepeng, and Frank to tap resources for reconstruction efforts during emergencies brought about by calamities, is one of the three identified institutional conduits approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to facilitate cooperation and coordination between the Philippine government and the private sector in formulating and implementing reconstruction strategies.

Its goal for Cebu, Bohol, Zamboanga and now the areas affected by Typhoon Yolanda is long-term solutions and programs that will bring businesses and jobs back to these areas. They are also planning to look into better designs for houses more suited for a country that gets hit by typhoons and earthquakes. They are focusing on rebuilding the communities which includes: immediate help, provide housing, education by rebuilding school houses, providing economic incentives, and livelihood opportunities.

As a way of giving thanks to all the countries that helped us, we offer to them "The "Prayer".

63 days later the last Poles surrendered to the Germans.

250,000 men, women, and children were killed in the fighting, and the city of Warsaw was leveled by the Germans.

Philippine Airlines Plans Daily Flights to Five European Cities

The European Union has lifted a ban on Philippine Airlines (PAL) flying into its airspace after the national carrier resolved aviation safety concerns, the EU ambassador to Manila said on Wednesday.

“Today the EU has decided to lift the air ban on Philippine Airlines,” said EU Ambassador to the Philippines Guy Ledoux.
He said PAL would be allowed to fly into the 28-member bloc starting Friday, which will spur tourism and business links.
“Direct connections will provide a strong additional incentive for European tourists to visit the Philippines,” Ledoux said.
PAL president and CEO Ramon S. Ang told reporters at a joint news conference with Ledoux that the airline planned to begin flights to London, Paris, Rome and Amsterdam by September or October.
